A significant part of the scientific activities of the Labaroratory , especially in the fields of environment and natural hazards, develops with the support of local governements.
The Région Languedoc-Roussillon contributes to the funding of scientific equipements (Plateforms) and supports young researchers through the "Chercheur d’Avenir" program.
The Région Languedoc-Roussillon and Montpellier Métropole Méditerranée also contribute to the initiation of "Startups" by fostering the projects of young scientits and businessmen nurtured in Geoscience Montpellier.
Together with Direccte Languedoc-Roussillon, local governments sponsor Terinov the regional geosciences cluster which develops the network between the laboratory, the Earth Sciences teaching Dpt & research laboratories, and the regional companies making business in geosciences.
