Professional situation

I am holding a research position (“Chargé de Recherche 2”) at the CNRS since October 2014. Before (from July 2011- July 2014) I held a Marie Curie (International Outgoing Fellowship, EU FP7) postdoctoral position at the CNRS (France). The two first years of the project were undertaken at the Research School of Earth Sciences in the Australian National University and the last part at Géosciences Montpellier (France).

Research Interests

  1. Interplay between fluid and metamorphism.
  2. Phase equilibria and metamorphism of ultramafic rocks.
  3. Incorporation and diffusion of hydrogen in nominally anhydrous minerals.
  4. Rheology of the mantle wedge and the microstructure of exhumed ultramafic rocks.

Scientific skills :

Addressing geological problems by using a combination of natural, experimental and theoretical approaches. I address general issues from a mineralogical-petrological perspective. I also have interests in forward thermodynamic modeling and its eventual incorporation into geodynamic models. I have ten years of research experience that includes regular publications in international journals, regular attending to international conferences, preparation of proposals and management of scientific projects. Part of my time (20 %) is dedicated to mentoring and transferring of knowledge.

Technical skills :

Analytical techniques : Electron Backscattered Diffraction (BSD), SEM, FTIR spectrometry, Electron microprobe, LA-ICPMS, optical microscopy
Laboratory : High-pressure experiments using piston-cylinder apparatus, 1-atm high temperature gas mixing furnace, double polished section preparation for FTIR.
Specific software : Matlab, Perple_X (phase diagrams, phase equilibria, and thermodynamic data), AZtecHKL/Channel 5 (EBSD software), OPUS 7.0 (FTIR software).
Languages : Spanish : native ; English : fluent ; French : intermediate level
